Maggie Shaunessy is used to keeping secrets. She's a fabulous teacher but she's also gadda, part of a hidden, powerful race - and she had a habit of annoying the wrong people...
Until Lucas Valeroso met Maggie, he had no idea what awaited him: super-human powers, a smart and beautiful woman interested in more than unlocking his new abilities and, above all, a sense of belonging. Eight years ago, Nicole Murphy was trying her hand at epic fantasy and space opera and it wasn't quite working for her. Then she realised she wasn't kidding anyone and she might as well bite the bullet and try writing a romance.
Thus began a long, at times convoluted journey that finally resulted in the release of the Dream of Asarlai trilogy in 2010/2011. Nicole will talk about the mis-steps, necessary pitstops and sacrifices involved in getting what started (literally) as a dream about a woman hiding her magic powers from her lover to a published trilogy about a secret magical race fighting to save the world.
About the Author
Nicole Murphy has been a primary school teacher, bookstore owner, journalist and checkout chick. She grew up reading Tolkien, Lewis and Le Guin, spent her twenties discovering Quick, Lindsey and Deveraux and lives her love of science fiction and fantasy through her involvement with the Conflux science fiction conventions. Her urban fantasy trilogy Dream of Asarlai is published by HarperVoyager. She lives with her husband in Queanbeyan.
